A favorite of the locals, sugar loaf is a little butte with a bit of a steep climb the second half of the trail. It tops to a location overlooking the city of Sedona. Venture off toward Thunder Mountain and discover some private and spectacular nooks and cranies for privacy. See the Coffee Pot rock and have an adventure that is closer to town. It’s a popular spot where you may encounter other people.
Sugarloaf is located at the base of the imposing Capitol Butte, which is visible from nearly any point in West Sedona. It’s ease of access allows clients a short hike to the top of Sugarloaf and enjoy the sun rise or set. To your left you’ll have close-up views of Capitol Butte, aka Thunder Mountain, Coffee Pot Rock and the surrounding red rock formations. Enjoy views of Airport Mesa with Courthouse Butte, Bell Rock, Castle Rock and Cathedral Rock peeking out from behind. This flat route meanders through juniper trees and prickly pear cactus.
